LANSING, Mich. (WLNS) — Two individuals have died in a crash involving a big field truck and a gravel hauler semi truck on westbound I-94 underneath the Airport Street overpass.
Crash at I-94 at Airport Rd Exit 137 close to Jackson (MDOT)
The crash was first reported at 9:15 a.m., in accordance with the Michigan Division of Transportation. The Blackman-Leoni Division of Public Security says they had been despatched out to the crash at 9:06 a.m.
Police say the field truck rear-ended the semi truck, which was hauling two trailers loaded with gravel, severely damaging each autos and rupturing one of many gasoline tanks on the field truck. This led to gasoline spilling throughout the roadway.
The driving force and passenger of the field truck had been pronounced useless on the scene. Police are withholding their identities pending household notification, however they are saying they’re a 30-year-old man from Sterling Heights and a 22-year-old man from Warren.
I-94 was closed at Airport Rd for nearly eight hours whereas crews responded to the crash. Crews reopened the interstate round 4:30 p.m.
