3 U-M researchers charged with smuggling organic supplies

LANSING, Mich. (WLNS) — Three researchers on the College of Michigan had been charged with conspiring to smuggle organic supplies into america Wednesday, the most recent of a number of related instances involving researchers at U-M.

Xu Bai, 28; Fengfan Zhang, 27; and Zhiyong Zhang, 30, all Chinese language nationals, had been researchers holding J-1 visas conducting analysis on the U-M laboratory of Xianzhong Xu, also called the Shawn Xu laboratory.

Prosecutors declare that over the previous two years, Bai and Fengfan had obtained a number of shipments containing hid organic supplies associated to roundworms. These shipments had been despatched from China to america by Chengxuan Han.
