In trend, we glance to the runways to encourage magnificence seems. For instance, the lipstick traits for the season or the manicure colours that will likely be common for the approaching months. However in terms of nail designs, artists and creators are those who’re always churning out new traits. From cocktail-inspired nails to 3-D textures, there’s tons to find on Instagram. Nonetheless, the newest, blue sand nail design, is likely one of the most alluring we’ve seen shortly.

Because the title suggests, the look is made to imitate the grainy texture and delightful motion of sand—suppose desert dunes and the graceful texture of glass-blown buildings. Much more mesmerizing is the colour palette used to create the look. The mix consists of good blues and shimmering copper and silver shades. To say that the ultimate look is exclusive is an understatement. Forward, we spoke with the creator behind the pattern and a nail artwork professional to discover ways to create the glossy new nail look.

Featured specialists Siranush Ambartsumian is a nail artist, the founding father of the Miami-based Nail Artwork Division salon and the creator of the blue sand nail pattern Thea Inexperienced is the founding father of Nails.INC and INC.Redible Cosmetics What are blue sand nails?

Blue sand nails are designed to imitate the look of sand granules. What makes the look stand out is the colour palette used to create the gradient. As an alternative of tonal shades, it makes use of a stupendous blue colour that blends right into a copper-metallic, creating a novel gradient impact. Nail artist, founding father of Nail Artwork Division salon and the creator of the blue sand nail pattern, Siranush Ambartsumian, explains that the transition of the shades makes the design stand out from others. “The blend is supposed to be seamless with no harsh lines to create a captivating blur as the copper shifts into blue,” she says.

When requested about her inspiration behind the design, Ambartsumian credit the film Dune. “I was searching for this effect, and this design became a kind of embodiment of the mysterious desert sand from the movie. I’m a big fan of this film and, of course, of Hans Zimmer, the composer who created the stunning soundtrack for the movie. After attending his concert, the name blue sand nails came to me,” she says.

Understanding the approach

From afar, blue sand nails could seem like created by numerous strategies. “Many mistakenly assume I used copper chrome and blue cat-eye polish to create this look,” says Ambartsumian. Nonetheless, the design is created with the ombré chrome approach utilizing completely different chrome colours. “To master this look, you need to have a smooth and seamless transition between the colors,” says Thea Inexperienced, founding father of Nails.INC and INC.Redible Cosmetics. For blue sand nails, Ambartsumian says that the transition has a laser-like impact that provides the design a flawless look.

How you can create blue sand nails

This design is all about layers. First, you’ll want a shiny and opaque black nail polish to create the bottom. When you’ve painted the nails black, add a layer of silver cat-eye polish with magnetic filaments and use a magnet to create a French tip impact. To do that, Ambartsumian recommends positioning the magnet flat and bringing it near the left aspect of the nail, then easily transferring it throughout to the best.

The subsequent step is the addition of the chrome powder, which is the step that Ambartsumian calls the showstopper. Whereas you should use any product for the bottom, she notes {that a} high-quality chrome powder is vital. For the blue sand impact, she recommends Nailspiracy’s LUNA 3 chrome powder ($15 every). “Unlike others, this powder is composed of three reflective shades (black, white and nude).” She explains that the distinctive mix of shades is what turns the silver layer of polish into an impressive blue whereas elegantly reworking the black French tip into copper.
