"I was victim-blamed, shamed, accused of collusion, and used as a pawn for personal agendas": Brenda Tracy faults MSU Board of Trustees for assault scandal 

LANSING, Mich. (WLNS)— Sexual assault survivor and activist Brenda Tracy spoke to the MSU Board of Trustees for the primary time in individual. 

Brenda Tracy stood defiantly in entrance of the Michigan State College Board of Trustees this afternoon. 

In September 2023, Tracy accused former Michigan State College head coach, Mel Tucker, of sexually harassing her throughout a cellphone name in April 2022. 

Tucker admitted to having “phone sex” together with her. 

Tracy is suing the college for the way they dealt with the case and in addition suing Tucker for defamation. 

“I turned to MSU for help and in return,” said Tracy. “I was victim-blamed, shamed, accused of collusion, and used as a pawn for personal agendas.”

She criticized the board for the way they handled her in the course of the case. 

“You say you are a board that supports survivors,” said Tracy. “That supports survivors. That was not my experience with you, but I absolutely believe that it should’ve been.” 

She says she went to Michigan State’s Workplace of Institutional Fairness to report the incident. 

“Because I was sexually harassed and threatened by head football coach Mel Tucke,” said Tracy. “A man who pretended to be an ally to survivors.”

Tracy’s lawyer, Karen Truszkowski additionally spoke on the assembly and says she was accused of colluding with board members. 

“I can get up right here and lift my proper hand and say, unequivocally I’ve by no means spoken, or met, or emailed, or texted with anybody on this board,” stated Truszkowski. 

She says Tracy by no means wished to go public in regards to the harassment from the beginning. 

“She wished this course of to complete and be honest to everybody concerned, together with Mr. Tucker,” stated Truszkowski. 

Mel Tucker was fired from the college again in 2023 and is now suing the college for violating his constitutional rights.
