LANSING, Mich. (WLNS) — The state Christmas tree has been harvested and delivered to Michigan’s Capitol in Lansing.
The state Christmas tree is a 60-foot spruce donated by Wealthy and Dorcas Albertson of Eagle, Michigan, positioned quarter-hour northwest of Lansing.
“The decision to donate our tree is bittersweet – it’s a beautiful tree, and we love it. We have enjoyed it in our front yard for over 27 years,” mentioned the Albertson’s. Including, “it will be nice to see it adorned with lights one more time this holiday season.”
The tree was harvested on Nov. 1. and transported to the capitol earlier at this time with assist from the Michigan Affiliation of Timber, the Nice Lakes Timber Skilled Affiliation and the DTMD’s Christmas tree crew.
Native Boy Scout troops will untie the tree as a part of the yearly custom.
The Michigan Capitol Fee and the Lansing Board of Water & Mild will beautify the tree.
The tree lighting ceremony will likely be held on Friday, Nov. 22., at roughly 7:30 p.m. through the fortieth annual Silver Bells within the Metropolis celebration in downtown Lansing.
State Christmas tree standards:
Should be both spruce or fir
No less than 60-feet tall with a most crown of 24 ft and most trunk diameter of 30 inches
Should be simply accessible by highway with no interference from wires
