LANSING, Mich. (WLNS) — Michigan State Police have confirmed a crash and fireplace on I-96 close to Webberville late Saturday night time has killed 4 folks and injured at the least 17 others.

The crash occurred round 11:40 on I-96 close to the M-52 overpass when a semi-truck driver was unable to cease his car for upcoming backed-up site visitors, hit a number of automobiles and caught fireplace. Police say 15 automobiles have been concerned within the crash.

In response to police, a Customers Power crew was stringing new electrical strains throughout the interstate and had stopped site visitors, however had simply reopened the interstate when the crash occurred.

The truck was driving west within the left lane when it hit a number of different automobiles.

Police say the injured have been taken to hospitals in Lansing, however their circumstances should not being made public at the moment.

Police say drivers can count on westbound I-96 close to Webberville to be closed for a while because of the crash investigation and attainable structural injury to the overpass at M-52 attributable to the fireplace. Eastbound I-96 may also stay closed indefinitely. The Michigan Division of Transportation will examine the bridge.
