Frank Sinatra

Lionel Richie

In 1985, together with Lionel Richie, Jones organised We Are The World – a report to boost cash for preventing famine in Ethiopia – and one of many greatest hit songs of its time.

The all-star refrain featured Ray Charles, Bob Dylan, Diana Ross, Bruce Springsteen and Smokey Robinson.

Jones – who Richie dubbed “the master orchestrator” – set the tone for the recording session with an indication that mentioned: “Leave your ego at the door.”

From Austin Powers to The Contemporary Prince

Jones composed soundtracks for greater than 50 movies and TV programmes.

His movie scores included In The Warmth Of The Evening, The Coloration Purple and The Italian Job.

His TV theme music spanned exhibits together with Sanford And Son, Ironside and an early model of the catchy theme to The Contemporary Prince Of Bel-Air.
