Ingham County Clerk Barb Byrum assertion on presidential election

LANSING, Mich. (WLNS) — Ingham County Clerk Barb Byrum issued an announcement relating to the end result of the 2024 presidential election.

As Ingham County’s Chief Elections Official, I’ve the honour and accountability of presiding over the administration of elections in my County. In my three phrases as Ingham County Clerk, I’ve administered 39 elections.

The November 5, 2024 Election was performed freely, pretty, and the unofficial outcomes had been reported in a well timed trend. In Ingham County, 21 native clerks oversaw the primary Normal Election implementation of Early Voting, processed almost 70,000 absentee ballots, and had the best turnout that Ingham County has ever skilled.

As we converse, the bipartisan County Board of Canvassers, made up of two Republicans and two Democrats, is reviewing the election to make sure that for each poll solid there was a voter, and vice versa. This can be a essential checkpoint to make sure that ballots weren’t missed and that counts are correct.

During the last week, those that are sad that their candidate misplaced, each Democrats and Republicans, have been expressing their disappointment by questioning the validity of the method of our election. This isn’t the primary time this has occurred, as these sad with the 2020 election did in order effectively.

I’ve an extended observe report of standing up for our elections in opposition to those that have questioned it, these previous few years, and it’s simply as necessary to face up and defend our elections, now. I’ve, on a number of events, known as on Republican leaders to inform their supporters that our course of is secure and safe, and I’d be a hypocrite if I didn’t come out and accomplish that myself, this time round.

So to those that are disillusioned that Vice President Harris misplaced, final week, I say that there are a lot of the reason why that occurred that can little question be mentioned in marketing campaign technique periods for years to come back, however it was not the results of a failure of our elections course of. Our Democracy labored final Tuesday, because it has for hundreds of years, and we should respect the need of the voters who positioned their religion in it by casting their ballots
