Three climbers are lacking after failing to return from a deliberate ascent of New Zealand’s highest peak, authorities say.

Two People and a Canadian flew to a hut half approach up the Aoraki mountain on Saturday to start their climb, however failed to fulfill their prearranged transport on Monday after their trek.

Each Kurt Blair, 56, from Colorado, and Carlos Romero, 50, from California, are licensed alpine guides, in accordance with the web site of the American Mountain Guides Affiliation.

New Zealand police didn’t identify the Canadian climber, saying his household wanted to be notified.
