Singing, dancing, hugging and crying. Tons of of Syrians have gathered in Manchester metropolis centre to rejoice the top of the regime, a regime many fled in concern of their lives.

Their faces are stuffed with pleasure and tears as years of concern, fear and disappointment make manner for hope.

They wave flags saying “freedom” and cheer as an impromptu fireworks show lights up the sky.

Many refugees stated they’ve dreamt of this second for years. I’ve by no means been approached by so many individuals wanting to inform their story.

After years of repression, they need the world to listen to what they have been by.

Refugee Yasmin stated her phrases are her weapon, which is why she needed to flee Syria. However now she not needs to be quiet.

She stated she was “ecstatic to see President Assad’s repressive regime lastly over.

After years away, she stated she hopes to return house quickly – a sentiment shared by many on the celebration.

Yasser has been within the UK since 2015 when he got here to Manchester as a refugee. However, like many who fled the civil struggle, he nonetheless has shut household again in Syria.

“Every moment there they could be in danger,” he stated. “But finally this dream has become true now.

“I used to be welcomed very properly from the Mancunian individuals – I’m very, very glad to remain right here, however I am wanting ahead to the primary flight to Syria to return.”
