JACKSON, Mich. (WLNS) — A heroic story unfolds in Jackson, the place a father of 4 and devoted husband had his life saved by a stranger.

It was alleged to be an extraordinary morning for Myers. He had simply completed his first day at work and was heading house to his household, together with a one-month-old new child, when the unsalted roads took management of his tires.

Myers recounted the terrifying expertise, saying he did the whole lot proper: he wore his seatbelt and drove the pace restrict. However black ice had different plans.

“It was so crazy because the ice literally, like it, grabbed my tire and it just pulled it. It took two blinks and it was over. I was in water,” Myers explains.

Within the chaos, Myers known as 911 and punctured the windshield by kicking it which finally led to extra chilly water pouring in. With nothing to interrupt the automotive window and the door being jammed shut, he hung up on dispatchers and known as his spouse to listen to her voice one final time.

“I called my wife because I didn’t think I was going to make it,” He stated.

Because the water rose quickly, Myers was getting ready to die. However within the nick of time, an arm reached via the freezing water, pulling him to security.

“90% of people will just go by, not even stop. So for somebody to jump into cold, frozen water, that’s awesome,” Myers says.

As soon as he was dropped at security, paramedics arrived and Myers discovered his physique temperature had dropped to 83°F, and he was affected by extreme hypothermia.

Paramedics positioned him in a forced-air warming system—reserved for essentially the most crucial circumstances—to stabilize his situation.

However what struck Myers most was the stranger who saved his life.

“Nicholas was on the other side of the ambulance trying to get warm. He was telling them to give me a blanket. You know, he was… an everyday Joe. Most people would stand at the side of the road and scream, and he dove into ice water. That’s crazy,” Myers recounts.

The stranger was Nicholas Kolb, a co-worker Myers hadn’t but met. Kolb noticed the automotive within the water, lights nonetheless on, and heard Myers’ screams. With out hesitation, he acted.

“As quickly as I heard his voice, I didn’t even suppose. I simply leaped proper in,” Kolb explains.

Kolb stated he’s simply grateful Myers is secure and residential along with his household.

“There’s not much more price I can pay for somebody who saved my life. No matter what I give or do, there’s nothing that I can do for that,” Myers says.

After the rescue, Myers realized he had no approach of contacting Kolb. His spouse, Kimberly Myers, determined to take motion.

“He didn’t know I posted it, but I told him I’m going to try to find the guy for him,” She stated.

She turned to Fb.

“I figured Facebook is the easiest way to find someone. So I thought, what’s the worst that could happen? And posted it,” She explains.

Her put up labored. Kolb’s sister noticed it and confirmed her brother had pulled a person from a pond that morning.

Although they haven’t met face-to-face but, Myers and his spouse have expressed their gratitude via textual content.

“A couple of minutes could save a life—a father, someone’s dad, or a family member, ” Kimberly says.“My kids are in school. My son is a straight-A student. Stopping, getting out, and going the extra mile—not just calling 911 but jumping in—that’s heroic,” Myers says.

The household’s automotive, their solely car, was misplaced within the accident. With out it, Myers has no solution to get to his new job.
