Recreation grants awarded to Michigan communities

LANSING, Mich. (WLNS) — The Division of Pure Assets (DNR) has awarded Michigan communities a recreation grant to help park and path improvement.

The DNR reviews that 14 communities throughout Michigan will obtain $1.9 million in Recreation Passport grants to fund varied initiatives.

The Recreation Passport is a $14 annual go required to entry state parks, recreation areas, historic websites, trails and boat entry websites.

These initiatives embody enhancements to the Huge Traverse Bay boating entry web site in Houghton County’s Schoolcraft Township, the Tate Park River Raisin Pathway Loop within the village of Clinton in Lenawee County and the Springfield Colleges Memorial Park playground within the metropolis of Springfield in Calhoun County.

“The Recreation Passport help(s) fund maintenance and improvements at our state parks and provide(s) money we allocate as Recreation Passport grants for local projects across Michigan,” mentioned DNR Director Scott Bowen in a information launch despatched to six Information.

An extra 15 Michigan communities have been beneficial by the DNR to obtain $8 million in Land and Water Conservation Fund grants.

In keeping with the DNR, the Land and Water Conservation Fund is used to develop public out of doors recreation amenities.

Metropolis of Grand Ledge (Eaton County) Individuals with Disabilities Act remark platform improvement for Grand River viewing $321,100.

Victor Township (Clinton County) Victor Township Park enhancements $278,700

Ottawa County Higher Macatawa Greenway trailhead $347,500.

Grand Blanc Township (Genesee County) Creasey Bicentennial Park renovation $500,000.

Metropolis of Ann Arbor (Washtenaw County) Buhr Park out of doors ice enviornment enhancements $500,000.

Metropolis of Northville (Wayne County) restrooms and accessible walkways at Ford Area Park West $500,000.

Metropolis of Ironwood (Gogebic County) Pat O’Connell Civic Heart Ice Enviornment ice-making plant 375,000.

Chikaming Township (Berrien County) Kohn Park improvement undertaking $327,700.

Park Township (Ottawa County) Park Township Neighborhood Park restroom and parking undertaking $500,000.
