Mark Zuckerberg’s agency Meta has donated $1m to Donald Trump’s inauguration fund because the Fb founder tries to fix ties with the president-elect.

In August, Mr Trump threatened to imprison the billionaire if he did “anything illegal” to affect the presidential election.

However final month the pair dined collectively at Mr Trump’s Mar-a-Lago resort in Florida, with Mr Zuckerberg making clear he needs to help “national renewal”, in accordance with the president-elect’s deputy chief of workers.

The Wall Avenue Journal now stories these efforts have resulted within the $1m donation after years of the tech tycoon sometimes steering away from presidential races.

Donations to the inauguration fund go in direction of occasions across the swearing-in ceremony in January.

Earlier than the dinner in November, the Meta boss reportedly additionally held a non-public demonstration for Mr Trump of his firm’s sensible glasses, which he gifted to the president-elect.

And in July he posted on his Fact Social web site a message threatening to ship election fraudsters to jail. He used his nickname for the Meta boss, warning “Zuckerbucks” to “be careful”.

In 2017, Mr Zuckerberg stated he was “concerned” by Mr Trump’s order to bar residents from seven Muslim-majority international locations from the US throughout his first time period in workplace.
