Sluggish begin hurts Detroit Lions in loss to Buffalo Payments

DETROIT, Mich. (WLNS) – In a recreation that includes the 2 highest scoring offenses within the NFL, Sunday’s recreation between the Buffalo Payments and Detroit Lions lived as much as the hype.

The Payments 48-42 win over the Lions at Ford Subject was the best scoring recreation within the NFL to this point within the season.

A key distinction was the way in which each groups began the sport on Sunday.

The Payments got here out and scored touchdowns on their first three drives of the sport, whereas the Lions punted on their first two drives of the sport. Attempting to play meet up with the Payments, who’ve now scored 30+ factors in eight straight video games, it is by no means a recipe for achievement.

“It’s unfortunate to get behind in any game. Especially like (the) high-powered offense the Bills had tonight,” Lions tight finish Sam LaPorta mentioned. “Josh Allen, Wow. Tremendous quarterback play tonight. And out guy too.”

Allen completed with 362 passing yards, 68 speeding yards and 4 whole touchdowns. Lions quarterback Jared Goff had 494 passing yards and tied a career-high with 5 passing touchdowns.

“Sucks to lose,” Goff mentioned postgame. “You would have loved to win every game out, all the way to the Super Bowl. I hope we can look back on this one as a learning lesson for us. Move on and use some of the stuff we learned in this game, and help us win these next three before we hit the playoffs.”

“It’s frustrating,” Lions head coach Dan Campbell mentioned. “But that’s a part of life, man. You lose and it’s a bad taste in your mouth, and now what are we going to do about it? Are we going to sit there and feel sorry for ourselves? We’re going to bounce back and go to Chicago.”

The 48 factors the Lions allowed on Sunday is by far probably the most they’ve given up this season. It is also probably the most they’ve given up since Seattle got here to Detroit in Week 4 of the 2022 season and scored 48 factors on the Lions.

LaPorta revealed after the sport the Lions will probably be practising exterior this week to prepare for subsequent Sunday’s recreation at Chicago.

The Lions all to 12-2 this season whereas the Payments enhance to 11-3.
