Michigan receives $20 million funding to enhance public well being

Michigan receives  million funding to enhance public well being

LANSING, Mich. (WLNS) — The Michigan Division of Setting, Nice Lakes and Power (EGLE) introduced 43 grants to enhance public well being, monitor air pollution, clear up contamination and extra.

Neighborhood organizations, native governments, nonprofit organizations, Tribes, faculties, and childcare facilities will obtain a $20 million funding, accredited by Gov. Whitmer in her Fiscal Yr 2024 price range. These grants have been awarded by way of the Workplace of the Environmental Justice Public Advocate (OEJPA).

EGLE studies that the OEJPA acquired 189 functions with near $80 million in funding requests.

This funding will look to, “improve public health and reduce environmental burdens in Michigan communities with Environmental Justice concerns,” stated EGLE in a information launch despatched to six Information.

“From upgrading housing and reducing exposure to lead to expanding access to greenspace and protecting our waters, today’s investments will make a real difference in people’s lives,” stated Governor Whitmer in a information launch despatched to six Information.
