2 charged after 44 kilos of cocaine seized in Western Michigan city

GRANDVILLE, Mich. (WOOD) — Two males are dealing with a federal drug cost after police seized 44 kilos of cocaine exterior a West Michigan lodge.

The seizure occurred Nov. 21 in Grandville following an investigation by federal legislation enforcement.

Police obtained details about a person in Texas who was “able and willing to provide large amounts of cocaine from Chicago, Illinois to Grand Rapids, Michigan,” an agent with the Drug Enforcement Administration wrote in a felony criticism.

With the help of digital surveillance, investigators targeted on two rental automobiles with out-of-state license plates, court docket information present. The autos ultimately arrived at a lodge within the space of forty fourth Avenue SW and I-196.

The drivers had been recognized as Tyrone Munoz and Raul Robledo. Police seized one tightly-wrapped bundle of cocaine from one car and 19 packages from the opposite car, court docket information present.

In all, 20 kilograms of cocaine had been seized — all wrapped in brown duct tape. It’s equal to 44 kilos. Nineteen of the packages had been present in a duffel bag in a white Toyota; the remaining bundle was in a purple Toyota, information present.
