Star Wars actor Angus MacInnes dies

Star Wars actor Angus MacInnes dies

The actor Angus MacInnes, finest recognized for his function within the Star Wars movies, has died.

MacInnes died on 23 December on the age of 77, his household introduced.

He was finest recognized for his performances as Jon ‘Dutch’ Vander, or Gold Chief, within the Star Wars franchise.

He featured in two movies within the collection – Episode IV: A New Hope and Rogue One: A Star Wars Story.

The reason for his dying was not disclosed however he died “peacefully, surrounded by his family and love”, an announcement from his household stated.

His profession spanned many years.

His work exterior the Star Wars franchise included roles as Sgt Whitman in 2004’s Hellboy, Fergie in 1985’s Witness, as a Maersk Alabama crew member in 2013’s Captain Phillips, and Basic Tom Barnes in 2007’s Flight of Fury.

However followers of the Star Wars movies “held a special place in his heart”, his household stated.

“He loved meeting you at conventions, hearing your stories, and sharing in your passion for the saga,” they stated.

“He was continually humbled, delighted, and honoured by the admiration and passion of the fans and convention community,” their assertion added.

MacInnes performed a former Imperial pilot who defected when ordered to bomb rebel-friendly areas of his residence planet.

The character dies within the first assault on the Loss of life Star, the moon-sized weapon used to destroy planets, in A New Hope.

Born in Canada in 1947, MacInnes’s household stated he was a beloved husband, father, grandfather, brother, uncle and good friend.

The household tribute added: “Angus was more than an actor – he was a kind, thoughtful, and generous soul who brought warmth and humour into the lives of everyone who knew him.

“He shall be deeply missed by his household, mates and fellow actors but additionally by his followers around the globe – his household thanks all.”
