A spokesperson for the Met stated: “Police acquired experiences of an alleged spiking at an institution within the Home of Commons, on Tuesday 7 January at round 6.30pm.

“There have been no arrests at this stage.”

MPs returned to parliament on Monday 6 January following their Christmas break.

Politico reported the alleged incident occurred in Strangers’ Bar, one of many on-site venues on the parliamentary property that serves alcohol.

The alleged sufferer is known to be somebody who works in parliament, however not a politician.
