GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. (WOOD) — Attorneys are combating to avoid wasting a person’s life by calling on Gov. Gretchen Whitmer to recall a prisoner who was extradited to Alabama and now faces the loss of life penalty.

A lawsuit was filed earlier this month on behalf of Demetrius Frazier, a person who was arrested in Michigan in 1992 and finally admitted to the 1991 homicide of Pauline Brown within the Birmingham, Alabama, space.

Frazier was discovered responsible of the homicide in 1996 and sentenced to loss of life however remained housed in Michigan, the place he was serving three life sentences for separate crimes, together with one other homicide and felony sexual conduct. It wasn’t till 2011 that Frazier was extradited to Alabama after an settlement between Robert Bentley and Rick Snyder, the then-governors of their respective states.
