Eaton Rapids man convicted of assaulting, unlawfully imprisoning three teenagers

Eaton Rapids man convicted of assaulting, unlawfully imprisoning three teenagers

LANSING, Mich. (WLNS) — An Eaton Rapids man has been convicted of ten costs regarding the 2023 assault and illegal imprisonment of three teenage ladies in Brookfield Township.

James Andrew Nelson, 53, confronted three teenage ladies between the ages of 14 and 15 as they have been strolling alongside Wilcox Street close to Bellevue Freeway. He pulled out a gun, ordered them to the bottom, and shot the gun within the air.

After a four-day trial, a jury discovered Nelson responsible of the next:

Three counts of illegal imprisonment, a felony punishable by as much as 15 years in jail

Three counts of assault with a harmful weapon, a felony punishable by as much as 4 years in jail

Three counts of utilizing a firearm in the course of the fee of a felony, a felony that carries a compulsory two-year jail sentence that have to be served consecutive and previous his sentence for the opposite costs

One rely of reckless use of a firearm, a misdemeanor punishable by as much as 90 days in jail

Nelson will await his sentencing, which is able to happen on March 19, within the Eaton County Jail.
