Native museum highlights Malcolm X’s life in Mid-Michigan

MASON, Mich. (WLNS) — As Black Historical past Month will get underway, an area exhibit is remembering the time when Malcolm X lived within the mid-Michigan space.

“We have pictures of the school he went to,” says Klein. “The house he lived in, and one of the stores that he worked at after school, Matthew’s Restaurant.”

Klein says Malcolm’s time within the metropolis was very eventful. 

“In terms of developing his skills, especially in writing and in speaking,” said Klein. “So, he always credited his time in Mason for helping him develop some of his skills.”

Klein says as soon as Malcolm entered the ninth grade, he began having hassle in class once more, and ultimately left Michigan and moved in along with his sister in Boston, Massachusetts.
