Labour suspends 11 councillors over WhatsApp scandal

The Labour Social gathering has suspended 11 of its councillors over their membership of a WhatsApp group that led to a minister being sacked from the frontbench.

It’s understood many of the councillors are a part of Tameside Council whereas two are members of Stockport Council.

The transfer comes after the occasion sacked well being minister Andrew Gwynne – whose spouse Alison is now understood to have additionally been suspended – over messages he reportedly posted within the group.

The Mail on Sunday reported that Mr Gwynne made antisemitic feedback and “joked” a couple of pensioner constituent, saying he hoped she died earlier than the following election.

His sacking was adopted by the occasion suspending Burnley MP Oliver Ryan for feedback made within the WhatsApp group.
