A British couple detained by the Taliban have been moved to a most safety jail in Kabul in what has been described by their kids as an alarming replace.
Peter Reynolds, 79, and his spouse Barbie, 75, have been detained by the Taliban’s inside ministry on 1 February.
On the finish of final month, the Taliban claimed the arrests occurred due to a “misunderstanding” that the Reynolds had faux Afghan passports.
The day earlier than that, the BBC reported the Taliban as saying they might endeavour to launch the couple “as soon as possible”.
Mr Reynolds was stated to be in “urgent” want of medical care. He has reportedly been taken to an undisclosed location and his spouse has been advised she will be able to now not see him.
“Our parents’ detention is cruel and unjust,” they stated.
“Denying Dad pressing medical care violates fundamental human rights and contradicts the rules of mercy and compassion central to Islam, particularly throughout Ramadan.
“We urge those in power to show goodwill and release them immediately.”
The couple have been married in Kabul in 1970 and have lived in Afghanistan for the final 18 years – remaining after the Taliban toppled the Western-backed authorities in 2021.
The couple run Rebuild, an organisation that gives training and coaching programmes for companies, authorities companies, instructional organisations and nongovernmental teams.
