The incident, which passed off on Friday within the former mining city of La Grand-Combe, within the south of France, was described as “Islamophobic” by Prime Minister Francois Bayrou.

President Emmanuel Macron mentioned the sufferer was “horribly murdered”, in a press release posted on social media.

The Grand Mosque of Paris condemned the assault and mentioned the sufferer had simply completed cleansing the mosque when he was killed.
