LANSING, Mich. (WLNS) — A social media put up is looking for a “street race” Friday night time to encourage the reopening of the Sloan Onondaga Dragway. Lansing Mayor Andy Schor advised 6 Information town is “ready to act if anyone drives recklessly and puts the lives of people in danger.”

The “protest” comes the day after Ingham County Circuit Court docket Choose Rosemarie Aqualina issued an injunction to cease races at Sloan’s Onondaga Dragway.

The protest can be taking place within the wake of a crash that despatched a dozen folks to the hospital and left one lifeless on April 24. Police officers have stated the crash was partly the results of unlawful avenue racing.

Sloan’s proprietor, Woody Sloan, advised 6 Information on Wednesday he was inviting and welcoming unlawful avenue racers to return to his observe and check out their arms on a authorized raceway.

Lansing Police say there might be “increased patrols” Friday night time in response to the called-for avenue race protest.
