Michigan State Police honors fallen troopers

LANSING, Mich. (WLNS) — The Michigan State Police put their lives on the road daily to guard and serve folks—and Monday afternoon, they honored their fallen troopers with a memorial service.

The memorial is an annual occasion. Monday, they honored the lives of the 57 fallen troopers who made the final word sacrifice to guard the neighborhood.

The ceremony featured troopers and kinfolk. Every misplaced trooper had their image, identify, date of beginning, and date of demise accompanying it to acknowledge their service. The occasion ended outdoors, with a number of prayers to honor the troopers and their kinfolk. Colonel James Grady II, director fo the Michigan State Police, says the occasion highlights that though these troopers are gone, they’re by no means forgotten.

“People wearing this uniform make the ultimate sacrifice every day. We deal with some very challenging situations, but you know, again, we recognize them, and we honor them. In this profession, for making the ultimate sacrifice,” says Grady. “So, whenever we lose a fallen member, it hits as deeply in our hearts, and this is again just to be able to recognize them for their service.”
