Prolific shoplifter banned from each Greggs in England and Wales

A prolific shoplifter has been banned from each Greggs in England and Wales after being caught stealing from there seven instances, police have stated.

Patrick Verry, 33, of no mounted handle, was caught within the act by plain garments officers at a Greggs retailer in Wooden Inexperienced, north London, on 15 Might.

Bodycam footage of the incident exhibits him taking a number of gadgets from the fridge in his bag and strolling out with out paying.

When the officers first method him, he says “whatever mate”, till they start to restrain him and place him below arrest.

Realising they’re cops, Verry pleads that he’s “not resisting” and says: “I apologise bruv, I’m sorry.”

He had been seen stealing from the identical Greggs on the store’s CCTV six instances beforehand.

He pleaded responsible to 6 counts of theft from the store at Highbury Nook Magistrates’ Courtroom on 16 Might and was banned from all Greggs all through England and Wales.

Releasing the bodycam video on social media, the Metropolitan Police described the result because the “end of his sausage roll era”.

One other man banned from Sainsbury’s, Boots and Co-op

In a separate probe, they recognized one other man, Winston Wright, 44, who had stolen greater than £2,500 in items at varied retailers over 4 months.

He was noticed in Deptford, southeast London, by a PCSO, who arrested him.

Wright, from Lewisham, pleaded responsible to eight counts of shoplifting and one rely of economic housebreaking at Croydon Magistrates Courtroom on 6 Might.

He was jailed for 3 months, fined £200, and banned from coming into the Royal Borough of Greenwich, in addition to each Sainsbury’s, Boots, and Co-op in England and Wales for 3 years.

Chief Inspector Rav Pathania, the Metropolitan Police’s lead for tackling retail crime, stated: “The Met is focused on tackling the most prolific shoplifters like Wright and Verry.

“They trigger worry to retail staff and their offending has a adverse affect on communities.

“We continue to work with local business owners to investigate reports of shoplifting, understand concerns and use different tactics to crackdown, including targeted operations and regular patrols.”
