Man charged over cargo ship that crashed into entrance backyard

A person has been charged after a cargo ship ran aground in a entrance backyard because the home-owner was sleeping indoors.

Exceptional photos confirmed simply how shut the 135m-long vessel got here to crashing into Johan Helberg’s home close to Trondheim, Norway, on Thursday.

Police launched an investigation into the incident and have charged a Ukrainian man in his 30s who was serving as second officer aboard the vessel.

He was considered one of 16 folks on the ship, and has been charged with negligent navigation.

Like Mr Helberg, the officer was asleep.

“The individual charged was the officer on watch at the time of the incident,” mentioned a police assertion.

“During questioning, he stated that he fell asleep while on duty alone, which led to the vessel running aground.”

Police are persevering with to research whether or not guidelines relating to working and resting hours had been adhered to on the ship.

No accidents had been reported on account of the crash, and authorities are engaged on relocating the vessel.
