LANSING, Mich. (WLNS) — Grand Ledge received this system’s thirtieth Dean Shippey Capital Diamond Basic title defeating Portland 15-4 in 5 innings.

The Comets received manufacturing on the plate all through their complete lineup with Aidan O’Keefe going 2-for-3 with 3 runs and three RBI and Kyle Smith going 2-for-4 with 1 run and 1 RBI. Grand Ledge scored 4 runs within the backside of the primary earlier than the Raiders might even report a second out. Then adopted that up with a three-run second inning, a seven-run third inning, and a one-run fourth.

“I mean, it’s amazing,” Aidan O’Keefe mentioned. “It was a tough loss in districts the other day, but this atmosphere and our fans, they make it worth the wait and to end the season on such a great no is the most you can ask for.”

“There’s obviously a ton of history with this program,” Jason Smith, Grand Ledge’s appearing head coach mentioned. “It is a legacy, there’s a whole lot of people that went into building that legacy. It certainly wasn’t this group, but a lot of groups ahead of us and just to keep this legacy going, these boys are trying to do just that. And us as coaches we are trying to keep that legacy going.”

Senior pitcher Brayden Andrus was the Pat O’Keefe Most Excellent Participant after throwing a complete-game three-hitter with 5 strikeouts within the semifinal.

“It means a lot to me,” Andrus mentioned. “Every time I am on the mound, I am going to give it all up for my teammates and I am going to give everything for these guys.”
