Scottish Labour win Hamilton, Larkhall and Stonehouse by-election as SNP endure shock defeat

Scottish Labour’s Davy Russell has received the Hamilton, Larkhall and Stonehouse by-election.

Mr Russell took high spot with 8,559 votes. The SNP positioned second with 7,957 votes, with Reform UK carefully taking third with 7,088 votes.

Mr Russell said his party was ready to “repair” the NHS and “finish the SNP’s habit to losing your cash”.

He added: “The highway to a brand new path for Scotland in 2026 – with Anas Sarwar as first minister and a Scottish Labour authorities – begins proper right here. So, let’s go and win it collectively.”

Ten candidates went head-to-head within the Holyrood by-election:

• Collette Bradley, Scottish Socialist Get together – 278 votes• Andy Brady, Scottish Household Get together – 219 votes• Ross Lambie, Reform UK – 7,088 votes• Katy Loudon, Scottish Nationwide Get together (SNP) – 7,957 votes• Janice MacKay, UK Independence Get together (UKIP) – 50 votes• Ann McGuinness, Scottish Inexperienced Get together – 695 votes• Aisha Mir, Scottish Liberal Democrats – 533 votes• Richard Nelson, Scottish Conservative and Unionist Get together – 1,621 votes• Davy Russell, Scottish Labour Get together – 8,559 votes• Marc Wilkinson, Unbiased – 109 votes
