LANSING, Mich. (WLNS) — Eastbound and westbound Grand River Avenue and the westbound I-96 ramp (exit 145) in Brighton will shut starting Wednesday for rebuilding.

The Michigan Division of Transportation (MDOT) says that is a part of a $45 million venture to rebuild the I-96/Grand River Avenue interchange as a diverging diamond interchange.

MDOT says the venture will improve security and cut back congestion. The size of the venture is nearly 3/4 miles. Diverging diamond interchanges briefly shift site visitors to the other aspect of the highway to permit free-flowing left turns onto freeway ramps, lowering the variety of site visitors sign phases.

“By the end of this construction season, we will have fixed, repaired or replaced nearly 24,500 lane miles of roads,” Michigan Governor Gretchen Whitmer stated in a information launch.

The venture is predicted to be accomplished in 2026. Throughout building, drivers can count on to make use of Spencer Street to keep away from building. Particular detour maps might be discovered on MDOT’s web site.
