MSU to carry emergency train Tuesday morning

LANSING, Mich. (WLNS) — In case you see a lot of first responders on Michigan State College’s campus Tuesday morning, police need you to know it is only a drill.

MSU Police and Public Security introduced Wednesday that they’ll conduct a full-scale emergency drill on Tuesday from 8:00 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. in and round East Campus.

“Regular training exercises like this are essential for testing and improving our emergency response capabilities,” mentioned Mike Yankowski, Police Chief, MSU DPPS. “Our goal is to ensure that we are always ready to respond effectively to any situation, maintaining the safety and well-being of our students, faculty, staff, and visitors.”

The train will simulate a dwell campus emergency and can contain a number of teams, together with MSU DPPS, the East Lansing Hearth Division, the East Lansing Police Division, Ingham County 911, and different native emergency medical providers.

“We appreciate the understanding and cooperation of the MSU community as we conduct this important training exercise,” mentioned Yankowski. “Raising awareness about the planned exercise is essential to making sure our campus community and neighbors are informed regarding this event and is not alarmed by an increased law enforcement and emergency response personnel presence on the day.” 

Police say that the MSU Alert System won’t be activated through the coaching, and that any alerts acquired ought to be taken severely and responded to appropriately.
