This New Lip Remedy Is a Guava Lady Summer season Should-Have

The most popular product of the summer season? Juicy, hydrating lip therapies. The trendiest taste of the summer season? Guava. When Ayesha Curry and Candy July Pores and skin started engaged on their latest launch over two years in the past, they couldn’t have predicted this serendipitous timing. Or may they?

“So a lot of people don’t know this, but I’m psychic,” Curry tells me over Zoom earlier than shortly saying she’s simply kidding. “The irony of this is that we weren’t actually predicting that particular trend. We were just going off of these really iconic island, Caribbean flavors for our first SKU launches for this lip treatment,” she says. “And so it’s honestly just a coincidence, but obviously the universe and Sweet July skin are very much in sync, so we’re grateful.” Lip Remedy shall be out there on July 12 for $24. Make sure you be part of the waitlist so you possibly can seize it ASAP.

Whereas Guava Jelly may be the trendiest possibility, the brand new Candy July Pores and skin Lip Remedy additionally is available in Lychee Jelly and Important (unscented). “I like to approach all of our products from a food perspective. And so the flavor of these lip treatments were really important to me, and it took us a long time to get them right and have the integrity. Even if you didn’t read the label, you would know what you were experiencing,” says Curry.

“I keep using the word mouth feel, even though that’s not the right word,” says Curry when speaking about one other one in all her favourite components of the product. “I hate when I use a lip product and it’s tacky and sticky, or my hair sticks to it. This is not that it’s the perfect balance of having that thick, luscious, juicy formula, but also making sure that it’s not overly sticky or tacky and has the staying power.”

The endurance and each facet of this formulation have been meticulously examined and wear-tested for a lot of months, says Curry. “I find typically I’m reapplying every 30 minutes with other lip products. But with this, an hour, an hour and a half will go by and I’ll be like, ‘oh, shoot, I didn’t have to reapply.’” And whenever you do need to reapply, the metallic applicator presents a cooling, cryo sensation, Curry loves.

The star ingredient is the Maxi-Lip peptide. “It’s basically a superhero peptide that sort of binds to your lips, locks in moisture with the hyaluronic acid, and then keeps them supple and hydrated throughout the day,” explains Curry.

“I wanted to be able to use this on its own, but I wanted it to pair really well with your favorite lip liner. I love just a lined lip, particularly with our lychee formula, which has a bit of a creamier color to it,” says Curry. “When you mix that with a brown liner, it’s the perfect combo. I know it’s summer, but they look like hot chocolate lips.”

If you happen to’ve by no means tried Candy July Pores and skin, Curry says these lip therapies are an ideal entry level. “You don’t have to guess too hard. You don’t have to switch up your routine. You can just throw it in with what you have. So it’s a nice first, Sweet July Skin product.”

Teen Pores and skin Care within the Curry Family

Ayesha and Stephen’s 12-year-old daughter Riley was on set along with her mom for the primary time in the course of the photoshoot for this launch, which was enjoyable for them for the reason that mother-daughter duo have been bonding over skincare lately. “It’s so interesting to navigate that world. She is a diehard skin-care fanatic,” says Curry.

“There are a couple of our products and products from other brands that she can’t quite use yet. She’ll buy certain products, and I look at them, and I’m like, ‘No. There’s no reason for you to be using this. You’re going to damage your skin,’” says Curry. Like many dad and mom immediately, Curry has to “tread that line on nurturing her love for it and for caring for herself, but also being like, ‘hey, the time will come when you can use this.’”

“I love that we can share this kind of skin-care wellness journey together,” Curry says, noting that the lip therapies are an ideal product for them to share since they’re nice for all ages. “I love that she has a product now that she can use and love, and I don’t have to think twice about it.”
