Fmr. Metropolis of Jackson Mayor Martin Griffin dies at 63

LANSING, Mich. (WLNS) — Former Metropolis of Jackson Mayor and State Consultant Martin Griffin has died at 63, passing on Saturday, July 12.

“He was a source of strength, kindness, and unwavering commitment to making our community better. His contributions, compassion, and spirit will never be forgotten,” stated the Metropolis of Jackson in a Fb submit shared Monday.

Griffin was born and raised in Jackson, graduating from Lumen Christi Excessive Faculty and the College of Michigan. He served as mayor from 1995 to 2006 and once more from 2011 by 2013.

He additionally served as a state consultant for Michigan’s sixty fourth District from 2007 to 2011.

In 2018, Griffen was appointed because the treasurer of the Metropolis of Jackson, a place he held till his dying.
