Boy's fast pondering saves household stranded on inflatable raft

LANSING, Mich. (WLNS)– An 11-year-old boy is praised for calling the Ingham County Sheriff’s Workplace as a result of his household was stranded on a big inflatable raft on Lake Lansing.

Deputies say the incident occurred shortly after 1:40 p.m. on July 5, 2025. The boy instructed the Deputies that his mother, one other grownup, and two kids had been on the raft, and he was involved as a result of they could not attain shore and the raft was taking up water. Just one individual was sporting a life vest.

Marine Patrol assisted the Ingham County Sheriff’s Workplace and thanked the 11-year-old for remaining calm and clear when he spoke to dispatchers about the place he was and what he wanted.
