Israeli airstrikes have focused the Syrian army headquarters in Damascus amid renewed clashes within the nation.

The gate of the Ministry of Defence within the Syrian capital was focused by two warning missiles from an Israeli reconnaissance plane.

It got here as Israeli airstrikes focused safety and armed forces autos within the southern metropolis of Sweida, the place the Druze religion is without doubt one of the main non secular teams – marking the third consecutive day Israel has struck Syrian forces.

The Israeli army confirmed it had “struck the entrance gate” in Damascus – and that it will be monitoring “actions being taken against Druze civilians in southern Syria”.

Native media stated Sweida and close by villages had been coming beneath heavy artillery and mortar fireplace on Wednesday, in line with Reuters.

The clashes marked the collapse of a ceasefire between Syrian authorities forces and Druze armed teams, with Israel additionally warning it will enhance its involvement.

Israel stated it was appearing to guard the Druze teams by means of its assaults on convoys of Syrian forces.

Syria blamed militias in Sweida for violating a ceasefire settlement which had solely been reached on Tuesday.

An announcement from its defence ministry stated: “Military forces continue to respond to the source of fire inside the city of Sweida, while adhering to rules of engagement to protect residents, prevent harm, and ensure the safe return of those who left the city back to their homes.”

Israel’s defence minister Israel Katz stated the army will proceed to strike Syrian forces till they withdraw and will “leave Druze alone”, in line with native studies.
