Race automotive group hosts Lugnut Showdown Regional Race

Race automotive group hosts Lugnut Showdown Regional Race

LANSING, Mich. (WLNS) — The Capitol Quarter Midget Affiliation hosted their Lugnut Showdown Regional Race for younger race automotive drivers this weekend.

Though these younger drivers cannot drive full-size automobiles, they certain know the right way to get behind the wheel of the smaller midget automobiles.

“I just really like going out on the track and just going fast and having fun,” mentioned Hannah Diehl.

“This car is this one and goes about 65 miles per hour,” mentioned Railyn Powell.

These two younger drivers are getting an early begin to their racing careers on the showdown.

Diehl has been racing for 5 years and is following in her father’s footsteps

She even had the chance to race on the identical monitor her dad, Josh Diehl, did at Reno’s North Sports activities Bar in Lansing.

The Capitol Quarter Midget Affiliation has been racing for 66 years.

Powell is occurring her sixth 12 months on the monitor and sees a shiny future in racing.

“I wish to preserve racing, and I wish to do a mud modified and a wing dash,’ mentioned Powell.

Her mother, Jamie Anderson, says her grandfather bought her daughter into the artwork of racing.

“So, at the prime age of 6 years old, we threw our child in a race car, and we’ve loved it ever since,” mentioned Anderson.

Board Member Josh Diehl says his household affair brings the neighborhood collectively, all for one sport.

“This sport teaches so much about teamwork, about sportsmanship,” mentioned Josh Diehl.

Hannah says she desires to encourage extra younger ladies to get into the game she is aware of and loves.

“Because not many girls race, race cars because they think it’s a boy’s sport, but it’s not.”
