HASLETT, Mich. (WLNS) – After nearly a decade of vacancies, redevelopment for the almost 20 acres of land often known as Haslett Village Sq. is on the horizon.

The West Michigan-based builders plan to breathe new life into the area with extra jobs, reasonably priced housing, and business alternatives. Township officers say it might be a key to the realm’s financial revitalization.

“We are really excited that we’re finally able to close the chapter on this blighted area,” stated township supervisor Scott Hendrickson. “There’s a shortage of housing both in Meridian Township and in the Greater Lansing region.”

Hedrickson says the upcoming challenge will carry new reasonably priced housing to the group.

“There will be about 200 housing units coming in, some of them being apartments and multifamily, some of them being owner-occupied townhomes, which we’re very excited about,” stated Hendrickson.

The village can even supply workforce housing, which Hendrickson says is devoted to these making 80% to 120% of the realm median earnings.

“Basically guarantees that there will be more affordable units for folks to come and live in Haslett in our community,” stated Hendrickson.

It will not be simply properties—Hendrickson says there shall be loads of group area and facilities, together with eating places, a canine park, an exercise garden, and a playground.

Between the companies and residential areas, Hendrickson says the challenge can even carry jobs.

“There are construction jobs that come with the building of the facilities,” said Hendrickson. “There will be apartment management that comes along with that, employees at the restaurant, and the other commercial spaces.”

With all these additions, Hendrickson hopes the township may invite some new households to the group.

“We wanna make sure that people are able to move into our community who want to,” said Hendrickson. “We’ve got great school districts and great amenities here in Meridian Township.”

Based on the township, builders are aiming to start out building in Fall 2025.
