GRAND LEDGE, Mich. (WLNS) – A Grand Ledge couple has made it their mission to provide livestock a spot to thrive, regardless of their age or situation. 6 Information visited the farm to talk to house owners Bob and Vick Worthy about their inspiring story, and a latest name for assist.

The Worthys spend their days caring for livestock. They have goats, sheep, horses, donkeys, and 5 full-size pigs–simply to call a couple of.

“One of them was a young pig who kept invading the slaughter truck for about four hours,” stated Bob Worthy. “So we want her to have a nice home.”

Their animals are completely different.

Mitten Misfits Farm is definitely a sanctuary for senior animals–a lot of them coming from animal cruelty and welfare seizures. Others got here from loving houses that couldn’t look after them anymore.

“They came from a kill pen,” Worthy defined. “They were going to be sold for meat and we intervened…These animals get a second chance at life. Otherwise they would be euthanized or slaughtered.”

The Mitten Misfits Farm is stuffed with second probability tales. One of many goats named Tilly is at the moment dwelling with three legs resulting from getting caught in a fence. “If you don’t like to take those pops and bottles back to the store and feed them into the machines, we would love to do it,” stated Worthy.

“It’s really incomprehensible,” stated Worthy. “I’m just so touched every day. I mean, we are so blessed.”

“We will be trying to collect some funds to get her on all fours again,” stated Worthy. “That’ll be so rewarding to see her walking around and not hobbling like that. It will be so exciting.”

Usually working with veterans and other people with particular wants, Worthy says the great occurring on the farm reaches far into the neighborhood.

“It makes her life better, it does improve it,” stated Worthy. “My wife and I were raised in a generation where you don’t ask for help, but the thing is, this can help a lot of people.”

Mitten Misfits Farm Sanctuary is accepting donations of bottles and cans via Monday August twenty fourth. Drop offs will be achieved from 8 a.m. to eight p.m. on the sanctuary at 8650 West Mount Hope Freeway.
