Jackson's Annual Civil Conflict Muster returns to the Cascades

JACKSON, Mich. (WLNS) — The Metropolis of Jackson is gearing up as soon as once more to host the annual Civil Conflict Muster on the Cascades. The pageant will happen this weekend and is the most important and longest-running Civil Conflict occasion within the Midwest.

“We have over 550 living historians. This is a museum that comes to life right before your eyes. Talk to the historians, see the cannons go off, watch the demonstrations that take place,” mentioned President of the Civil Conflict Muster Maurice Imhoff. 

The Muster returns, bringing its annual dose of battle reenactments, the All-American Navy Ball, home made root beer, and, after all, some shock visitor audio system.

“Michigan sent 90,000 boys, young boys, to go fight in the American Civil War. 15,000 of those boys never made it back home. This is where we tell those stories. This is where we talk about their sacrifice, to America’s history and America’s future,” Imhoff mentioned. 

Ernie Greer is from South Carolina and has been coming to the pageant for many years. He says the occasion is a superb alternative to draw youthful folks to study extra about their historical past.

“This is a good way for a kid to come out and experience what it would possibly have been like back during the 1860s,” Greer mentioned. “They come out, they get interested, we can point them in the right direction if they want to go into a hobby. Which this is a hobby.”
