Lt. Gov Gilchrist says residence focused in 'credible' bomb risk

LANSING, Mich. (WLNS) — Michigan Lieutenant Governor Garlin Gilchrist II says there was a bomb risk at his residence Thursday.

Gilchrist says that the risk to his residence, the place he lives along with his spouse and kids, was “credible” however has since been cleared.

The risk comes sooner or later after conservative pundit Charlie Kirk was shot and killed whereas talking at an occasion at Utah Valley College. Presently, police are nonetheless looking for an individual of curiosity related to the taking pictures.

Gilchrist says political violence shouldn’t be tolerated.

“The purpose of this violence is to silence, intimidate, and eliminate people and their voices from our society,” Gilchrist wrote in an announcement on social media. “That won’t work on me. We cannot let this remain our reality. We cannot tolerate political violence. We cannot excuse it. We cannot normalize it.”

Michigan Governor Gretchen Whitmer additionally launched an announcement in response to the risk, saying, “I’m grateful that Lt. Governor Gilchrist and his family are safe after the bomb threat at his home today. Let me be clear — political violence is unacceptable and has no place in Michigan. As Michiganders, we must reject all political violence and work towards a safer future.”
