Meridian Township set to start deer administration program

Meridian Township set to start deer administration program

LANSING, Mich. (WLNS) — Meridian Township is scheduled to start its annual Deer Administration Program on October 1, coinciding with the beginning of archery season.

The township experiences that this system has decreased deer-car collisions by 49% since its inception in 2011.

7,468 kilos of harvest venison had been donated to 14 native meals banks as a part of this system throughout the 2024-2025 season. Greater than 35,000 kilos of venison have been donated since 2020.

2025 Deer Administration Program Info

This system will run from October 1 by January 1.

This 12 months’s program might be performed on 42 township-owned properties and 28 permitted personal properties.

A complete of 63 skilled volunteer hunters, all accustomed to the world, have been chosen to conduct the harvest. Every volunteer should go a background test, attend obligatory coaching, and exhibit proficiency with their gear.

Program volunteers make the most of archery searching solely at their assigned properties.

Entrances to designated searching properties are posted to advise guests of the administration.
