Tom Barrett says Democrats "should not be allowed" to close down the federal government

LANSING, Mich. (WLNS) — Rep. Tom Barrett (R-Charlotte) is blaming Senate Democrats for shutting down the federal authorities.

Coverage consultants have described the present shutdown as a “weird” one, and Barrett agrees, as a result of Democrats are utilizing the filibuster as a bargaining chip in an unconventional method — prone to get Republicans to vote on extending Inexpensive Care Act subsidies.

“Americans went out and voted last year in the election, they elected Republicans to the House of Representatives in a governing majority, they elected a Republican majority in the Senate, and they elected a Republican president,” Barrett advised 6 Information this week. “The party that claims to defend democracy at all costs, why are they standing in the way of the democratically elected folks who are in positions to make decisions for our country?”

When requested if Republicans would remove the filibuster, Barrett mentioned it could be as much as the Senate and did not say if any severe conversations about it had been mentioned.
