Shoppers Power seeks approval to promote 13 hydroelectric dams

LANSING, Mich. (WLNS) — Shoppers Power is in search of state and federal approval to promote 13 of its hydroelectric dams.

In September, Shoppers Power reached an settlement to promote 13 dams to Confluence Hydro, an affiliate of Hull Avenue Power, LLC.

The approval request, despatched to the Michigan Public Service Fee (MPSC) and Federal Power Regulatory Fee (FERC), is the preliminary regulatory step for promoting the dams.

Shoppers Power says that the sale will cut back long-term prices for patrons and be sure that the dams will proceed to “operate safely and provide economic and recreational benefits for nearby communities.”

Hull Avenue Power is an funding agency that owns and operates energy era services throughout North America, together with 47 hydroelectric services.

If permitted, Confluence Hydro will personal and function the dams for 30 years and can promote power capability and renewable power credit again to Shoppers Power.

Present hydro operations staff have been notified of the sale and are being supplied jobs with Confluence Hydro.

Confluence Hydro can also be in search of to resume the dams’ federal working licenses, that are set to run out starting in 2034.

Shoppers Power and Confluence Hydro will host six group conferences to share sale updates, beginning November 19 and thru mid-December.
