'Appalled.': Native Catholic leaders react to Minnesota taking pictures

'Appalled.': Native Catholic leaders react to Minnesota taking pictures

LANSING, (Mich.) WLNS — 2 kids are useless and one other 17 folks had been wounded in a taking pictures throughout Wednesday morning Mass at a Minnesota Catholic college. 6 Information spoke with leaders from the Catholic neighborhood right here in Lansing, who say they had been “appalled” at what occurred this morning.

David Kerr, the director of communications on the Diocese of Lansing, says Catholic faculties right here in Lansing prioritize scholar security.

“If you go to our school, you will see an increased use of security personnel and the latest technologies in terms of security measures to ensure that parents, families who send their children to a Catholic school, can be assured that it is a place where children will grow to be saints and scholars, but in the safest of environments,” stated Kerr.

Kerr added that he is been praying for the victims of the taking pictures and their households.

He stated the security of scholars in Lansing is a “non-negotiable,” assuring those that Catholic faculties have taken steps in recent times to maintain college students protected.

“Protocols and procedures that are in place in schools across the Diocese are at the highest of standards,” Kerr stated. “That has seen our schools work very closely with local law enforcement, and with the state of Michigan.”

The Diocese needs households to be comfortable, saying the most recent safety strategies are in place to maintain their learners protected, permitting them to give attention to college.
