Barclays says IT glitch that locked folks out of their accounts has been resolved

Barclays says an IT glitch that left some prospects locked out of their accounts has been resolved after the disruption entered a 3rd day.

The financial institution stated the “technical issue”, which first emerged on Friday, has been fastened and delayed funds processed.

In an announcement on Sunday, Barclays stated: “We are working on bringing balances up to date for some of our customers and addressing any outstanding issues.

“We’re very sorry for any disruption and can be sure that no impacted buyer is not noted of pocket.”

The IT glitch will not be believed to be associated to a cyber assault or malicious exercise.

The disruption began on Friday – on what was payday for a lot of British employees and the deadline for self-assessment tax returns.

Barclays apologised to individuals who had been affected and promised nobody can be not noted of pocket.

It added that decision centres can be open for longer this weekend and the financial institution will probably be contacting prospects who could also be susceptible proactively.

Nonetheless, the corporate’s dealing with of complaints provoked an indignant response on-line.

Prospects have posted on X that they have been unable to purchase searching for themselves and their younger youngsters or pay their payments.

On social media website X, in response to at least one consumer who stated her family “has no access to money”, the Barclays UK Assist account requested: “Are there any friends or family who can offer support?”

When she stated she did not and criticised the reply as “so triggering”, the financial institution’s X account posted hyperlinks to the Trussell Belief, a charity that runs meals banks, and Residents Recommendation, which provides assist for a variety of issues.
