Better Lansing Sports activities Corridor of Fame inducts Class of 2025

LANSING, Mich. (WLNS) – For the forty ninth time, the Better Lansing Sports activities Corridor of Fame celebrated former athletes, coaches, and groups from the realm.

On Thursday on the Lansing Middle, the Class of 2025 was inducted into the corridor of fame. The category options two groups and eight athletes.

Listed below are the inductees, who had been honored for his or her accomplishments within the Better Lansing space.

Lauren Ok. Aitch – Lansing Waverly: The captain of the Class A ladies basketball state championship staff. A captain of the Michigan State girls’s basketball staff within the 2009-10 season. sixth man of the 12 months in 2008 and 2009, and co-Massive Ten champion in 2009.

Jack Anderson – Portland: The softball coach from 1979-2019 and recorded 977 wins on the varsity stage. Gained 23 convention championships, 13 district championships, three regional titles, and made two state championship recreation appearances. Additionally coached soccer at Portland and had a 42-32 file in eight years because the varsity head coach.

Casey Cunningham – Fulton: Gained the 157 lb. Division 1 Nationwide Championship in 1999 as a wrestler at Central Michigan. Gained three MAC championships and completed collegiate profession with a 134-19 file. Spent 2009-2025 as an assistant coach for NCAA wrestling powerhouse Penn State.

Phil Magsig – Dansville: First-team all-state throughout his junior and senior seasons at Dansville. Went on to play at Michigan State and lettered from 1979-81. Was part of MSU’s 1979 Massive Ten championship and recorded this system’s final NCAA regional win by a pitcher. Performed and managed within the Lansing Metropolis League for over 20 years. Coached baseball for one 12 months at Dansville and spent 27 years because the Okemos baseball coach.

Steve Maidlow – East Lansing: Earned 11 varsity letters throughout his time as a Trojan. Performed soccer at Michigan State and went on to develop into a 4th spherical choose by the Cincinnati Bengals in 1983. Performed for the Bengals from 1983-84 after which performed for the Buffalo Payments from 1985-87.

Casey Rost – St. Johns: Earned all-state honors twice throughout her time as a basketball standout for the Redwings. Was all-state in soccer and named the St. Johns Feminine Athlete of the Yr in 2001. Went on to shine for the Western Michigan girls’s basketball program and earned all-MAC first-team honors thrice. Named the MAC freshman of the 12 months and likewise grew to become the primary participant in WMU historical past, male or feminine, to achieve 2,000 profession factors.

Beth Swears – St. Johns: Coached the ladies basketball program from 1969-1995 and gained 380 video games. General, Swears led the Redwings to 16 league championships, 9 district championships and two regional championships.

Carlton Valentine – Lansing Sexton: Captain of the Michigan State males’s basketball staff in the course of the 1987-88 season, and was the Spartans’ main scorer and rebounder. Coached the Lansing Sexton boys basketball staff from 2005-16 and led Sexton to Class B state championships in 2011 and 2012.

1981 Okemos ladies basketball: Put collectively a 24-1 file on their technique to a state championship.

1999 Williamston boys wrestling: Went an ideal 27-0 en path to the state championship.
