A trove of golden treasures and antiquities detailing life in historic Egypt will go on public show at Cairo’s record-breaking new museum.

Positioned within the shadow of the pyramids, the Grand Egyptian Museum would be the world’s largest devoted to a single civilisation, containing 50,000 artefacts.

Monarchs, world leaders and heads of state are set to attend the grand opening ceremony, with the Egyptian presidency touting it as “an exceptional event in the history of human culture and civilisation”.

Preparations for the grand reveal on the billion-dollar museum have been shrouded in secrecy, however guests will little question be eager for a glimpse of the enduring relics from the glittering tomb of boy-king Tutankhamun.

What’s within the Grand Egyptian Museum?

Two halls are devoted to the 5,000 artefacts from the gathering of King Tutankhamun, which will likely be displayed in its entirety for the primary time since British archaeologist Howard Carter found it in 1922 within the southern metropolis of Luxor.

Zahi Hawass, Egypt’s most famed archaeologist and former minister of antiquities, stated the gathering of Tutankhamun is the masterpiece of the museum.

Hope for tourism increase

The Egyptian authorities hopes the museum will draw extra vacationers – and the overseas foreign money that comes with them.

The tourism sector has suffered throughout years of political turmoil and violence following the 2011 Arab Spring rebellion.
