Blackman Township receives k in parks and recreation funding

LANSING, Mich. (WLNS) — Blackman Constitution Township acquired a $25,000 grant from the Customers Vitality Basis, the township introduced Monday afternoon.

Blackman Constitution Township studies the grant will help efforts to reinforce the township’s parks and recreation amenities by way of its 5-year Parks and Recreation plan.

“Having a thriving park system that invites people to spend time outdoors and with each other is a critical component to placemaking,” mentioned Cathy Wilson, secretary/treasurer of the Customers Vitality Basis.

Township officers say the plan will improve safety for amenities and add areas reminiscent of pavilions, strolling path loops, loos, canine parks, pickleball courts, and areas for occasions and enormous gatherings reminiscent of flea markets. It can additionally guarantee open fields for soccer and different makes use of, and improve entry to loos.

“Local economies thrive and community members develop stronger relationships when green spaces and the amenities they can offer are expanded,” mentioned Wilson. “And we are proud to support Blackman Township’s efforts to do just that.”
