Brazilian President Luiz Inacio Lula da Silva is recovering in intensive care after having emergency surgical procedure to empty blood from his mind, a medical observe revealed by the nation’s authorities mentioned.

The leftist politician, often known as Lula, had lowered journey in latest months whereas medical doctors monitored his restoration from a trauma he suffered to the again of his head after falling at his residence in late October.

Mr da Silva was taken to hospital yesterday after he ended a gathering with congressional leaders attributable to a worsening headache, a supply within the presidential workplace instructed Reuters.

The 79-year-old had an MRI scan at a hospital within the capital Brasilia.

He was transferred to Sao Paulo, round 620 miles away, in a single day for surgical procedure.

The Brazilian president is now recovering “well, under monitoring in an ICU bed”, the hospital mentioned.

Presidential spokesperson Paulo Pimenta has mentioned in a radio interview that Mr da Silva would seemingly stay in intensive care for one more 48 hours, with contact restricted to his medical group

“He is stable, conscious and calm,” Mr Pimenta mentioned.

Mr da Silva awakened early on Tuesday as anesthesia wore off earlier than going again to sleep, in accordance with the presidential aide.
